Over 1,100 Force runners take part in Standard Chartered Race | ||||||||||||||||||||
The Police Athletics Club continued coordinating Force members' participation in the Corporate Entries of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2009, held on February 8. Within the three-week registration period, 1,188 Force members and their families enrolled in 10-Km Race, Half Marathon and Full Marathon. This active participation in the Corporate Entries led to the Force clinching the second place of "The Most Supportive Award". As more than 55,000 runners were taking part in the annual marathon, the 10-Km Race started at Island East Corridor whereas the Half Marathon and Full Marathon started at Nathan Road, and proceeded along the Route 3 Expressway, Tsing Ma Bridge, Ting Kau Bridge, and Western Cross Harbour Tunnel. The finishing point of all events was located in the Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. The Force not only fielded a very strong team of runners who pulled off a number of trophies but also had a number of officers bringing their family members along to the event, supporting the promotion of a healthy lifestyle within the Force. Station Sergeant Chan Man-yin was one of the Force members taking part in the 10-km run, bringing along his 13-year-old son. Both finished the race with the support of Police volunteer cheering teams. Force members' performances in the annual event are as follows:
Police Athletics Club would like to thank all volunteers for taking photographs of the runners, forming cheering teams and supporting Force runners. All the runners for the Corporate Entries were supplied with a vest sponsored by the Force Healthy Lifestyle Working Group. Photos showing them in action will be uploaded to Police Athletics Club's website (www.hkpac.com) for free downloading.
