Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) conducted a two-week Commercial Crime Investigation Course (CCIC) for 25 officers from local and overseas law enforcement agencies from February 16 to 27.

A long established course representing CCB's commitment to its mission, the CCIC has been held annually since 1987 to provide trainees with the professional knowledge and investigation skills required for dealing with complicated commercial fraud cases. This year is rather special in that, besides inspectors from CCB and Regions, a total of 10 members from local government departments and statutory bodies, as well as overseas law enforcement agencies have also attended the training course, such as the Public Security Bureau, Macao Judiciary Police, Singapore Police Force, Australian Federal Police, Department of Justice, Labour Department and Securities and Futures Commission.

A trainee from the Commercial Affairs Department of the Singapore Police Force, Mr Choo Kwang Meng, said the CCIC had given him a good understanding of various kinds of commercial fraud in Hong Kong and CCB's strategies to tackle them. The course also has given him a better picture of how Hong Kong and Singapore have been fighting commercial crimes.

A local trainee, Detective Senior Inspector Dickey Kwan, who is in charge of the Regional Crime Unit, Hong Kong Island, is more specific about the benefits of the course: "The CCIC will be very useful for regional crime officers to deal with an upsurge of commercial fraud cases during the global financial tsunami."

This year local government departments and statutory bodies, as well as overseas police forces have sent representatives to attend CCB's Commercial Crime Investigation Course
