Force mourns ultimate sacrifice |

Both the Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, and Acting Commissioner Yam Tat-wing have been saddened by the death of Station Sergeant Chan Ka-wai in the line of duty on March 11. After learning of the tragic death, Mr Lee and Mr Yam immediately sent their condolences to SSGT Chan's family. On the day of SSGT Chan's traffic accident, Mr Yam also rushed to hospital to see the family members and expressed his condolences. The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, has also sent a letter of condolences to SSGT Chan's family. SSGT Chan, aged 51, joined the Force in 1978. At the time of the accident, he was attached to the Patrol Sub-unit of the Enforcement and Control Division of Traffic Kowloon West. A highly responsible and dedicated officer, SSGT Chan had 17 years' experience of traffic control duties. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. A funeral service with full Force honours will be held at the Universal Funeral Parlour, Hung Hom, on April 9.
