In an e-mail to OffBeat, Elaine said she went back to studying and completed a degree in health and social care and went on to work with high-risk young people and families. From that she moved onto work with high-risk ex-offenders and for the past four years she has been working in a probation hostel in Belfast. The work is challenging with long hours but it can also sometimes be rewarding.
