To support the policy on "Healthy Campus" launched by the Task Force on Youth Drug Abuse led by Secretary for Justice Mr Wong Yan Lung, Western District (WDIST), assisted by the Western District Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Council, organised an Anti-Youth Drug Abuse Large Publicity Board Design Competition at the beginning of the current school term for secondary and primary schools in the Western and Southern Districts.

A total of 37 schools in the two districts, as well as one non-governmental organisation (NGO) participated in the competition and submitted about 4,500 entries. Western District has launched a cross-Region exhibition tour to display the winning designs and part of the other entries for public appreciation.

The first two exhibitions were held last month at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and City Hall. The next one will take place at the Hong Kong Central Public Library in September this year.

The opening ceremony of the cross-Region exhibition tour of the participating entries was held at the City Hall Exhibition Hall on April 13, with Mr Jacob Chan, Committee Member of the Action Committee Against Narcotics; Ms Ho Ng Ching-ching, District Officer of Central and Western District Office, and Western District Commander Sham Wai-kin officiating.

Western District hopes that the exhibitions will raise awareness of the harm of abusing drugs among parents and youths. With this in mind, it will continue to maintain close liaison with the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, Education Bureau, NGOs and people from all walks of life, with a view to consolidating the fight against youth drug abuse on all fronts.
