Police Band produces new CD, 'Harmony and Passion' |
||
The Police Band has recorded five LPs and three CDs since its establishment in 1951. Whilst its previous performances have always focussed on traditional pipe tunes and military music, the band's latest album, "Harmony and Passion", highlights the technical and musical talents of its members. The content of the album has been chosen from a wide selection of beautiful pieces of all styles, including the famous "Matsuri" by Kitaro, delicate and beautiful Swiss music "Yellow Mountains", Bohemian-style "Italian Festival", Main Theme from the Disney animated movie "Pocahontas", evergreen "Time to say Goodbye", and a number of jazz big-band and jazz quintet hits. The great variety of works shows the band is good at military and ceremonial music, and its frequent performances on different occasions have demonstrated that their skills are of the highest standard. In order to produce the best album, world-renowned recording engineer, Mr Aik Yew-goh, founder of the HUGO Productions (HK) Ltd, was invited to direct the multi-microphone recording session at one of the best recording venues in Hong Kong, the Tsuen Wan Town Hall. And the final production stage was monitored with hi-end audio equipment with first class recording technology resulting in an accurate and precise sonic performance. The three-dimensional effects are full of life; and the dynamics and frequency extensions at both ends are of demonstration class. The "Harmony and Passion" CD is now available at the Force Souvenir Shops at PHQ, POC and PSRC at the price of $100, and all the revenue will go to the Police Welfare Fund. Finally, the Police Band has expressed its heartfelt thanks to Mr Richard Tang Yat-sun for his generous sponsorship, and to Deputy Commissioner (Management) Tsang Wai-hung for his support for the production of the CD.
