KE crime busters commended

The Hang Hau Rural Committee has commended Kowloon East (KE) Region for successfully mounting a nine-day operation against triads active in Hang Hau Village.

As a token of the rural committee's appreciation of the tenacity and professionalism officers displayed whilst carrying out the operation, Mr Shing Hon-keung, Chairman of the committee, accompanied by committee members, recently presented silver plates and banners to Senior Superintendent (Crime KE) Chan Kin-hung, Superintendent (Operations Crime KE) David Cameron, Chief Inspector Tan Wing-cheung of Regional Anti-Triad Unit KE and Officer-in-Charge of Regional Anti-Triad Unit KE Fan Wing-hong at a ceremony at Kai Tak Operational Base.

Following the presentation, SSP Chan assured his guests that KE Region was determined to crack down on triad activities by strengthening communication and liaison with rural committees and local residents.

The anti-triad operation, jointly mounted by KE Regional Anti-Triad Unit, Regional Crime Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit and Police Tactical Unit from April 29 to May 7, rounded up 25 triad members aged between 15 and 41 for various offences, including being members of a triad society, wounding and possession of offensive weapons.
