Crime Wing Headquarters and the Force Working Group on the Use of Official Languages jointly held a Functional English Seminar for Junior Police Officers at the Auditorium in Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, on June 12. The theme of the seminar was "Better English, a More Perfect You".

At the seminar, Mr Victor Fung, Principal Lecturer of the Journalism Department of the Hong Kong Baptist University, shared with the audience some of the effective ways to improve standard of English. He also introduced various interesting and easy means to practise and improve English in daily life. His presentation was vivid and interactive, receiving a very favourable response from some 200 officers from various formations.

Chief Superintendent Kenneth Davey, Chairperson of the Force Working Group on the Use of Official Languages, gave an opening speech to welcome the speaker and all the participants. Mr Davey was pleased to witness such a large turnout of officers at the seminar, who are eager to improve their English standard and further enhance their professional abilities.

Mr Davey presented a souvenir to Mr Fung for his support for the Force in promoting use of English, and also thanked Chief Inspector Wong Kwok-kit and Woman Senior Inspector Jackie Tam of Crime Wing Headquarters for their efforts and contribution in organising the seminar.
