Director of Management Services Tang Kam-moon, Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Wong Fook-chuen and New Territories North Regional Commander Cheung Siu-wah were among the senior officers lending support to the Force awardees at the presentation.
Among the four awards for the Force, the submission made by the team of Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) Headquarters Woman Chief Inspector Chung Wing-man on CAPO captured the Merit Award of Departmental Award under the Best Performance Pledges Award category.
The submission by the team of New Territories North Quick Response Force Sergeant Chung Wing-shing on "Saviour of Mountain" - a signage index database system - won a Special Citation (Innovation) of the Internal Service Team Award category.
In addition, the Force clinched two awards as partners of other agencies in their submissions. The submission by Immigration Department on "Boundary Joint Command Centre" in co-operation with Customs and Excise Department and the Force was the Champion of Partnership Award on Departmental level. With the concerted efforts of the three departments, a Boundary Joint Command Centre was set up at Lo Wu Control Point to enhance immigration clearance through the
co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, for which Ta Kwu Ling Division is the coordinating unit from the Force.
The submission by Hong Kong Observatory on "Science in Public Service" in partnership with other government agencies, including the Force, won the Merit Award of Partnership Award on Departmental level. This project aims to promote the image of the Civil Service through scientific themes, under which a series of activities and exhibitions were held, for which Service Quality Wing is the coordinating unit from the Force.
The Civil Service Bureau launched the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme in 1999 to promote a citizen-centric culture and encourage the pursuit of excellence in delivery of public services. There are two levels of awards, namely departmental level and team level, with different categories under each level. Assessment criteria are mainly based on "Service strategy and objective", "Service design", "Service implementation" and "Result".
Congratulating the Force awardees on their excellent performances, Director of Management Services Tang Kam-moon encouraged Force members "to strive for excellent quality services and continuous improvement in all we do".
For nominations for the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme in 2010, Service Quality Wing will refine the nomination process by adopting an early identification approach so that suitable projects from Policy Wings, Branches and Formations can be identified at an early stage for submission to the award scheme in a well-coordinated manner. Any interested party may contact Chief Inspector (Service Enhancement) Ade Lam at 2860-6571.
To promote the commendable efforts of the civil service, the Civil Service Bureau has arranged to present the success stories in a number of TV programmes for broadcast on ATV Home at 11 am and TVB Jade at 3:20 pm every Sunday for 13 weeks, starting from October 4. |
