Frontline officers had a busy time on the National Day, carrying out various duties at various locations.

Hong Kong started getting into festive mood when officers joined members of the other disciplined services at a flag-raising ceremony and parade at the Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai early in the morning. This was followed by a National Day reception at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, where the Acting Chief Executive, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC addressed hundreds of VIPs and invited guests.

In the evening, officers closed roads, diverted traffic and manned strategic locations as an estimated 350,000 people crammed vantage points on both sides of the harbour to watch the National Day fireworks extravaganza.

Commissioner Tang King-shing greatly appreciated the efforts officers put in to ensure that the anniversary celebrations were carried out smoothly.
