Tuen Mun District (TMDIST) will team up with Lingnan University to launch in January next year two academic researches into drug abuse and Internet crime among teenagers. TMDIST hopes results of the researches would help it deal with juvenile delinquency more effectively.

At a luncheon meeting on September 22, TMDIST Commander Choy Kin-cheung discussed the research projects with Director of the Office of Service-Learning of Lingnan University, Prof Alfred Chan, and Assistant Director and member of the Tuen Mun District Fight Crime Committee, Dr Carol Ma Hok-ka. Both parties agreed to find out the causes of, and ways to deal with, crime.

Statistics showed that the first three quarters of this year saw a substantial drop in deception cases, compared with the same period last year. To underscore this, a Commendation Ceremony for the "Be Smart - Prevent Deception" drive will be held in Lingnan University on November 27.
