International Police Association (IPA) members from 60 countries met in Turkey in October for the 19th World Congress, and renewed friendship. Kwun Tong District Assistant District Commander (Administration) Superintendent Chris Bilham, President of the Hong Kong Section, represented Hong Kong at the Congress.

SP Bilham said this was one of the years for election to the Permanent Executive Bureau - the international office-bearers of the IPA, and some discreet lobbying was observed. Michael Odysseus of Cyprus was re-elected President, and most of the other members were also re-elected.

The Congress was held at a beach resort in Antalya, on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. Outside the conference sessions, guests had many options for recreation - swimming, golf, and touring Roman antiquities.

Next year's conference will be held in Paris from September 7 to 12 and will be followed by a tour in southern France. All IPA members are welcome. Please refer to website (www.ipa-hksar.com) for details.
