PDBC raises $320,000 for charity

The Police Dragon Boat Charity Race 2009 held by the Police Dragon Boat Club (PDBC) at Shing Mun River, Sha Tin, on October 31, raised more than $320,000 for the Police Welfare Fund and the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association.

This year's charity race was kicked off with the traditional eye-dotting ceremony performed by officiating guests, including Acting Director of Crime and Security To Chun-wai; Kowloon West Regional Commander Tang How-kong; Police College Director, Dr Cheuk Chun-yin, and Deputy Commandant HKAPF Yiu Yeung-lung. Then more than 70 teams from different formations began vying for various trophies, and all the races were very competitive and entertaining with every team doing its best.

Presentation of trophies by Commissioner Tang King-shing, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yam Tat-wing, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Tsang Wai-hung and other guests, marked the successful conclusion of this fundraiser.

The Police Dragon Boat Club thanked all teams, Police Volunteer Team, Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association, Hong Kong Sea School and Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps for their full support for this charity race.
