To enhance public awareness of the global climate change and promote "Low Carbon Living", the World Wild Fund (WWF) Hong Kong has organised a territory-wide environmental education programme - "Climateer Ambassador Experiential Programme" - and the Junior Police Call (JPC) Scheme has the privilege of being one of the only two participating youth organisations.

Eighty JPC members have been nominated to take part in this programme, which features a series of educational and experiential training and publicity activities to promote social awareness of the importance of "Low Carbon Living". These members will act as "Climateers Ambassadors" to widely disseminate the message and information of "Low Carbon Living" to the public with different activities in the coming year.

The WWF held the programme's launching ceremony at the Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront Podium Garden on November 8. Officiating at the ceremony were WWF-Hong Kong CEO, Mr Eric Bohm; Head of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Asia Pacific Region, HSBC, Ms Teresa Au; Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Ms Yolanda Chiu, and Police Public Relations Branch Acting Senior Superintendent Alice Lee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Acting SSP Lee stressed that environmental education is one of the core values of the JPC Scheme and encouraged all JPC Climateers Ambassadors to give their best to promote a greener and healthier environment for society and future generations.
