Lifelong learning helped equip police officers to shoulder the responsibility of upholding the safety of society, the Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Hong Kong, Prof Tsui Lap-chee, said on November 28 when he inspected a passing-out parade at the Police College.

Everyone had to keep abreast of the developments of society in order not to be marginalised, he noted.

He went on to say that the Police College, a staunch supporter of lifelong learning, provided continuous training for police officers at all levels and hosted seminars to enhance international exchanges with police forces around the world. These comprehensive training programmes boosted officers' professionalism by fostering new skills and knowledge in accordance with the needs and changes of society.

Prof Tsui pointed out that the Police College had ensured not only the high standard of the Force but also the continuous improvement of each and every police officer.

He encouraged the graduating officers to pursue lifelong learning through which they could broaden their horizons and face the challenges ahead.

On parade were 14 probationary inspectors and 190 recruit constables.

Prof Tsui heaps praise on the Police College for ensuring the high standard of Force members
