Recruitment for the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) and the Auxiliary Undergraduates Scheme (AUS) 2010-11 started recently, and these two programmes have been a great success since they were launched in 2003 and 2004 respectively.

Students' response to the PMP has been overwhelming and the number of applications keeps increasing. As a matter of fact, this success can be attributed to the support and effort by the participating tertiary institutes and the assistance given by Police Mentors.

Building on the success of Recruitment Division's visits to 10 tertiary institutes to introduce the two programmes, a luncheon meeting between the Police Head Mentors and the Student Affairs Officers of the institutes was held at Police Headquarters on November 16 to enhance the partnership between the Force and the institutes in running the PMP and discuss the way forward.

Police Head Mentor, Chief Superintendent (CSP) Harry Chung, and Deputy Head Mentor, CSP Pauline Ng, expressed special thanks to the institutes for their unfailing and continuous support for the PMP. They are the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong Shue Yan University and the Open University of Hong Kong.

Both CSPs said they were delighted with the rising standard of the students who joined the PMP, as well as their interest in the Force.

In response, the Student Affairs Officers said they appreciated the success of the PMP in providing an opportunity for their students to meet their seniors who are pursuing a successful career within the Force. They also thanked Police Mentors for their support and Recruitment Division for running the PMP.

The Student Affairs Officers were glad to see that the PMP had furthered the participating students' visions and sense of social responsibility.

Police Head Mentor, CSP Harry Chung, and Deputy Head Mentor, CSP Pauline Ng, thank Student Affairs Officers for their full support for the Police Mentorship Programme
