NB and AFP conducted a joint operation against the syndicate in June, resulting in the arrest of six core syndicate members, including two Hong Kong residents, and the seizure of two tonnes of methamphetamine (ICE) precursors concealed inside a container shipment of flat-packed furniture. The precursors would have been converted into approximately 45 kg of methamphetamine and fetched AUS$15M if successfully disposed of in Australia.

As a token of appreciation of NB's effort, AFP Assistant Commissioner, Ms Mandy Newton, especially came to Hong Kong and presented a souvenir to NB on November 27, which was accepted by NB Chief Superintendent John Ribeiro.

Both Mr Ribeiro and Ms Newton pledged to continue to work closely to combat transnational drug trafficking.
