"When I was young, I had only one pair of trainers. But I very much treasured them and I grew up with them. With this pair of trainers, I ran and jumped and grew up healthily," said Simon Yam Tat-wah at the opening of the "Roadshow in School" at Fanling Government Secondary School on December 1. Tai Po District Police Community Relations Office organised the roadshow with different police units, including Police Tactical Unit "C" Company and New Territories North Traffic. In addition, Hong Kong Ruby and Football Union, Elite Golf Academy, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden and Cheers Lutheran Youth Centre also set up game booths to disseminate anti-crime messages to students. Principal Wong Yip-cheung of the Fanling Government Secondary School thanked the Police for putting up the road show. Students not only enjoyed the day with Simon Yam and all the guests but also learned a valuable lesson on crime prevention lesson. Some of the students shared their experiences of the activities organised under Project GEN-Y such as the Hand Launching Glider Design Competition, and proudly presented their gliders to their schoolmates. In addition, the activities the students could enjoy other than indulging in computer games were introduced. More importantly, the project would boost their self-confidence and self-discipline. Tai Po District Commander Charles Mitchell said: "I am overwhelmed by the turnout and support. It gives a clear message to our young people that no matter how hard it is the community will never hesitate to help them. And the rest will be decided by the students."
One of the purposes of Project GEN-Y is consolidating the resources it has gathered from the community
