Representatives of Correctional Services Department, Customs and Excise Department, Fire Services Department, Immigration Department, Independent Commission Against Corruption, and the Force got together at the Police Headquarters on March 22 for the 17th Disciplined Services Informal Forum.

The forum is held on a quarterly basis, hosted by the participating departments in rotation. The Force convened the first forum in April 2004.

The objective of the forum is to provide an informal platform for exchanging views on matters of common concern, such as human resources. It also seeks to enhance the liaison and communication among the senior human resources management staff of the disciplined services.

Delivering her opening address at the forum, Chief Superintendent (Human Resources) Ng Tsui Fung-ying encouraged officers to have more information exchanges at working level so as to share valuable experiences and good practices on human resources management.

After the meeting, the representatives visited the Identification Bureau and were briefed by Chief Inspector (Support) Chan Sing-cheong and Woman Senior Inspector (Advanced Technology Section) Tam Ka-man on the state-of-the-art technology being used in identifying palm prints and fingerprints as well as the scientific methods to trace fingerprints.

The Correctional Services Department will host the next quarterly informal forum.

A useful quarterly informal forum since early 2004
