Students show great interest in recruitment talk |

In a bid to encourage Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) students to join the Force after graduation, Recruitment Division (RECDIV) and Police Community Relations Office of Eastern District (PCRO EDIST) jointly held a recruitment talk for over 100 students and teachers of the Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College on March 22. Senior Inspector Veronica Lee and Police Constable Andy Lau from RECDIV hosted the talk, introducing in detail entry requirements, selection process and the pre-requisite attributes required of recruits. The students found police work interesting and challenging. They also asked many questions about entry requirements. As most of them are not well versed in Chinese, the students expressed concern about not being able to meet the Force's requirement in respect of proficiency in Chinese. To allay their worries and boost their confidence, the RECDIV offered the recipes for learning the language and preparing for the written exam and interview. At the end of the talk, the school principal, Mr Yusuf Yu, while thanking RECDIV and PCRO EDIST for arranging the talk, noted that the presentation achieved three goals: bringing NEC students and the Police closer together; enhancing the students' understanding of police work, and enhancing their chance of joining the Force.
