Marine Region's bid for healthy lifestyle

March 26 saw the successful staging of the Marine Region Sports Day cum Spring Gathering at the Police Sports and Recreation Club. In sports, officers took part in seven-a-side football, table tennis, basketball, tug-of-war, Fun Run and archery.

Fine weather made athletes from different formations more enthusiastic in vying for various trophies. After rounds of tough battles, Marine Outer Waters District emerged as the biggest winner, claiming victory in tug-of-war, basketball and archery, while Marine East Division took the trophies for Fun Run, seven-a-side football and table tennis, and Marine South Division picked gold in seven-a-side football and a trophy for table tennis.

During the prize presentation, the spectators brought the day to a climax with non-stop applause. Finally the Sports Day closed in a carnival atmosphere, successfully driving home the important message of leading a healthy lifestyle.

In the evening, over 600 officers and civilian staff attended the Spring Dinner, enjoying traditional casserole and a variety of entertainments, including Latin dances by children and some good oldies performed by the Police Pop Music Club.
