Between March 9 and 11, the Deputy Commander of the Singapore Police Coast Guard (SPCG), Superintendent Tee Chong Fui, and the Officer in-Charge Maintenance SPCG, Mr Ang Sin Ghee, visited Marine Region under an ongoing exchange programme between the two organisations.

Receiving the visitors was Marine Acting Regional Commander Chung Hung-fung. The visit provided a good opportunity for both parties to meet and exchange views, and to pave the way for Mr Chung to lead a duty visit to Singapore later in the month.

During their first day at Marine Police Headquarters, Mr Tee and Mr Ang got a briefing on the structure, roles and organisation of Marine Region, and the development of maritime policing in Hong Kong, including the Versatile Maritime Policing Response Strategy.

During a tour of the Regional Command and Control Centre, they took a close look at the key components of the centre, including the new day/night cameras and Digital Radar Security System. After the tour, they boarded a Medium Patrol Launch to nearby Junk Bay to watch a high-speed interception demonstration by Small Boats Division.

Both Mr Tee and Mr Ang were particularly interested in the operational deployment of Barge Operating Platforms (BOP) and spent two days with Marine Outer Waters District, where they observed operations of the Tolo Barrier, as well as the tactics, effectiveness and other matters related to operations of the BOP.

The visit concluded with a half-day visit to the Government Flying Service for a briefing on air support for maritime operations.
