Tuen Mun District (TMDIST) has been actively encouraging public participating in the anti-drug promotion and educational activities held in the district. With a multi-agency approach, various activities have been organised to help youngsters see the harm of drug abuse, stay away from drugs and set positive life values.

TMDIST, in partnership with the Hong Kong St John Ambulance Cadet and the Police Adventure Club, organised the "Anti-drugs Pioneers" Training Day. Many community leaders turned up at an officiating ceremony to show their support for the event. Among those officiating at the event were Vice Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council, Mr Leung Kin-man; Chairman of Tuen Mun Primary School Heads Association, Mr Chow Kam-cheung; Chairman of Tuen Mun District JPC Honorary President Council, Mr Yeung Siu-wai, other JPC Honorary Presidents, and TMDIST Commander Choy Kin-cheung.

TMDIST hopes that youngsters, by participation in these activities, would be able to solve problems with mutual support and become more determined to stay away from drugs.

The event succeeded in attracting a total of 200 primary and secondary students from Tuen Mun and members of the Hong Kong St John Ambulance Cadet. Led by volunteers from the Police Adventure Club, staff of TMDIST Police Community Relations Office, and School Ambassadors of Tuen Mun District, these youngsters received training in hiking as they walked along the Tuen Mun Trail to the Fu Tei Service Reservoir. On completion of the training, each participant was presented with a certificate as a commendation.
