In line with the Force’s Strategic Direction of "Engaging the Community to Fight Crime", Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) teamed up with nine Uniform Groups to run a Fight IT Crime Ambassador Project in June last year.

The project has attracted the support of over 350 members of the Junior Police Call, Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps, Boys' Brigade Hong Kong, Girls' Brigade Hong Kong, Hong Kong Girl Guides Association, Hong Kong Road Safety Association, Scout Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps and Hong Kong St John Ambulance Brigade.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the project, CCB Chief Superintendent Cheung Kwai-kee noted: "Appointing Uniform Group members as Fight IT Crime Ambassadors was just like sowing the seeds. With the effort of the Ambassadors, the seeds have grown healthily and brought results for us to share.

"Having a big team of highly disciplined Uniform Groups members as our partners, we can use their networks in the community to drive home the message of fighting IT crime to young people."

CCB offers Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for training 200, 100 and 50 persons respectively. Under the project, 12 Ambassadors have won Gold Award; seven, Silver Award, and 26, Bronze Award. In a matter of nine months, these Ambassadors have trained up a total of over 4,000 youngsters.

One of the winners, Lau Ka-keung, pointed out that youngsters were very eager to learn more about information security, and that the Ambassador Project helped them form a proper attitude towards usage of computer.
