The  "Sha Tin District Youth Anti-drug Trophy Football Tournament 2009/2010" came to a successful conclusion at Ma On Shan Playground on April 24, when Hong Kong and Kowloon Chiu Chow Public Association Ma Chung Sum Secondary School clinched the title after defeating HKSKH Ma On Shan Children and Youth Integrated Service Centre by 2:0 in an exciting final.

The two teams made their way to the final after tough matches over the past three months, which also yielded two other semi-finalists. On April 18, all the four semi-finalists headed for a training camp at the Wu Kai Sha Youth Village, where a training session on football skills, a lesson on physical training and a talk on prevention of drug abuse by youth were offered, enabling the team members to appreciate what harm drugs would do to health.

After the champion was decided, two friendly matches were played with the Sha Tin District Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Association Invitation Team taking on both the Police Ladies Football Team and the Cathay Pacific Airways Ladies Football Team. Following exciting and close competition, the invitation team won both of the matches.

The tournament was in support of the Government's campaign against abuse of psychotropic drugs by youth. Matches started on December 19 last year, with 21 teams from 19 secondary schools and two youth groups in Sha Tin District participating. The event succeeded as a multi-agency effort to promote sports activities among youngsters in Sha Tin and steer them away from drugs.

Officiating at the closing ceremony were Sha Tin District Council Chairman, Mr Wai Kwok-hung; Sha Tin District Officer, Mr Pang Wai-yee; Sha Tin District Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Association Chairman, Dr Lo Wai-kwok; Social Welfare Department Sha Tin District Social Welfare Officer, Miss Caran Wong; Leisure and Cultural Services Department Sha Tin District Leisure Manager, Mr Lee Chaw-sing; Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council Sha Tin District Director, Miss Lai Wai-han; Sha Tin District Secondary School Heads Association Chairman, Mr Chau Hau-fung; New Territories South Regional Commander Tse Shu-chun, and Sha Tin District Commander Richard Morgan.
