The National Putonghua Proficiency Test (NPPT) is an official examination of Putonghua competence on the Mainland. To help officers sit for the test and improve their Putonghua, the Police College organised an Experience Sharing Seminar on NPPT on March 31.

At the invitation of the Police College, Superintendent (SP) Vivian Lo and Chief Inspector (CIP) Leung Chung-man shared with the participants their experiences of sitting for the NPPT, including preparation and skills.

CIP Leung said that to succeed in the test, one should familiarise oneself with the syllabus and the marking scheme which are spelt out in the Examination Guide, prepare for the important topics, and make repeated practices on the parts in which one has more confidence.

Agreeing with CIP Leung's views, SP Lo pointed out that passing the NPPT would not be difficult as long as there is good preparation. She encouraged officers to take the test so as to obtain a recognised qualification for their proficiency in Putonghua.

An experienced examiner, Ms Wu Wai-yiu from the Lingnan University, also gave a detailed presentation on the requirements and structure of the test, at the invitation of the Police College.

The participants considered the contents of the seminar helpful for knowing more about the NPPT.
