To mark the 91st Anniversary of the "May Fourth Movement", Yuen Long District Council, Yuen Long Town Hall and Home Affairs Department jointly organised the "Yuen Long Youth Festival" to promote community harmony. The Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Young Lap-moon, and Director of Operations Hung Hak-wai officiated at the opening of the event. The youth festival commenced with a "Multi-cultural Procession" in Tin Shui Wai by more than 50 teams and 3,000 youths from different ethnic minority groups and youth organisations in the area. Addressing the participants of the procession, Mr Hung encouraged young persons to make use of "this precious multi-functional platform" to raise their sense of belonging and commitment to society. The procession was followed by opening of the "Multi-cultural Village" in Tin Shui Wai, where New Territories North Regional Commander Austin Kerrigan toured 26 exhibition stalls set by youths or youth organisations. The youth festival lasts for three months between May and July, with a wide range of activities, including an 8-km run, an essay competition and a variety show. The Tin Shui Wai Police Volunteer Team and Yuen Long JPC are rendering full support for the event. The
