Kowloon East (KE) Regional Commander Suen Kwai-leung presented Police Long Service Medals, Clasps, Meritorious Service Certificates and Commanding Officer's Commendations to 44 disciplined officers of the Region on May 20.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Suen expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the exemplary performance and dedication the officers displayed over the years. He also took the opportunity to review the achievements his Region has made, in particular a series of initiatives to engage the community in crime prevention which had brought encouraging results. Last year, the overall crime rate dropped by 5.6 percent as a result of officers' hard work and strong commitments, he noted.

Mr Suen went on to say that the issues deserving especial attention had been covered in KE's Regional Action Plan 2010 in order to meet the Commissioner's Operational Priorities. Furthermore, the concerted efforts of officers across the Region had brought significant drops in some major crimes, such as vehicle crime and construction site theft by 46.7 percent and 41.8 percent respectively in the first quarter of this year when compared with the same period last year.

Mr Suen concluded by thanking all officers once again for their unfailing support and contributions.
