In line with the objectives of its Project GEN-Y to forge closer ties with schools and students, and to promote police work and anti-drugs concept among students, Tai Po District (TPDIST) has organised a series of friendly matches with schools in the district.

One of the matches took place on May 2 when TPDIST Deputy Commander Lau Yat-hung led the TPDIST handball team to call at the Confucian Ho Kwok Pui Chun College. Before the match, Mr Lau introduced the Project GEN-Y to the school headmaster, Ms Leung Chau-wan. In response, Ms Leung praised TPDIST’s efforts to deal with youth crime in schools in Tai Po. She pledged full support for the project by participating in its activities.

Later the TPDIST handball team, led by Inspector Lau Wan-tat, who graduated from the school, played a friendly match with the school's handball team. After the match, officers working as volunteers for Project GEN-Y shared their experiences of preventing and fighting crime with the students.

At the end of the goodwill visit, both the students and officers felt their encounter helped promote communication and understanding.
