In keeping with the Government's environmental protection policy, the Force has taken delivery of four all-electric small patrol cars for frontline duties. This Mitsubishi iMiEV is an innovative, zero-emission vehicle that was well received during a successful trial of a prototype last year.

Modified for police patrol in force livery with the latest LED emergency lights and siren technologies, the new car offers comfortable seating for a driver and three occupants. The compact, energy-efficient motor generates good acceleration and the lithium-ion batteries provide for a range of 160 kilometres on a single charge from a standard household supply.

The new cars have been delivered to Cheung Chau, Ma On Shan, Tsim Sha Tsui and the Peak. These vehicles will undergo an extensive trial on the frontline in order to evaluate their potential role as a viable police vehicle.
