The Airport District Assault Course opened on September 9 after New Territories South Regional Commander Tse Shu-chun officiated at an opening ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Tse said funding for the assault course came from savings, adding that it will also serve all other Force units.

According to Airport District Commander Siu Chak-yee, the assault course was made possible by support of Regional Headquarters, ideas from Airport Security Unit (ASU) officers, and hard work of administrative personnel throughout the whole construction process.

Located within the Airport Police Station, the assault course is complete with a high wall, parallel bar, rope net, grass slope, creeping matrix and a ten-metre abseiling tower, providing an alternative training ground to Force units besides that at Police Tactical Unit Headquarters in Fanling.

To ensure safety of the assault course, a consultancy firm employed by Airport District had conducted a comprehensive safety inspection. A lightning conduction system has been installed on the abseiling tower. A drinking-water machine and a water sprinkler system will also be installed in the near future.

During the opening ceremony, ASU officers gave a demonstration on the use of the assault course to the guests.

Those interested in using the assault course may contact ASU (PEN to ssgt-hq-asu, with copy to ip-sip-trg-sup-asu).
