Thoughts of Job attachment Scheme Interns

The Job Attachment Scheme for mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) came to a successful conclusion on September 25 when Acting Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Ng Tsui Fung-ying officiated at a presentation ceremony at Police Headquarters.

The PMP Job Attachment Scheme was launched in 2007 to provide a platform for mentees during their summer vacation to obtain working experience related to their studies, and to appreciate the work of police officers.

During job attachment, the mentees assisted Formations in completing short-term projects, and their immersion in daily police duties gave them a better idea of the work of the Force as well as their own potential. These experiences would augur well for their future career in the Force.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mrs Ng said: "An increasing number of mentees are participating in the Job Attachment Scheme over the years. The number this year is 70 mentees, nearly 50 percent more than last year's 47. The 49 projects they have taken part included researches, surveys and reviews, as well as organising IT-related activities."

Mrs Ng encouraged the mentees to pursue lifelong learning to get better prepared for their future careers and challenges. She thanked Formations, Project Officers and mentors for their support and assistance, which, she added, "have made the Job Attachment Scheme so successful this year."

To organise the presentation ceremony, two mentees on attachment to Recruitment Division, Kwong Kai-tung of Hong Kong Baptist University and Wu Wing-yiu of Open University of Hong Kong, had visited different Formations to videotape the work of other mentees. This interesting video was shown and well received at the ceremony.

The mentees have designed and produced display boards on their project assignments for sharing with Force members and among themselves.

Prior to the presentation ceremony, the guests toured the display boards and listened to the mentees' introductions of their projects. Three boards selected as the best designs and five as outstanding were presented with certificates.
