Tin Sum Division (TSDIV) has appointed a Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) Communities Information Officer for enhancing communication with NEC communities. To give NEC communities a better idea of police work and services, and to secure their support for crime prevention, TSDIV played host to a visit by junior members of the Tai Wai Islamic Centre on September 19.

During the police station visit, TSDIV officers briefed the visitors on police daily duties and police equipment, and shared anti-crime and anti-drug information. In addition, Traffic New Territories South conducted a talk on road safety while Police Dog Unit gave a demonstration.

At the end of the visit, Sha Tin District Junior Police Call members introduced their activities, and recruited the youngsters as ambassadors for the police. In response, the youngsters expressed their appreciation for the Force's NEC community policing and pledged to share with their families and friends the information they got from the visit.

Sha Tin District has about 20 000 NEC residents, about three percent of the whole population of the District. "We cherish the support of NEC communities for our work. I hope the visit would foster mutual trust and communication," said TSDIV Divisional Commander Ma Lo Kin-wah at the conclusion of the visit.
