Another successful 'PI Express'

The Police Inspectors Recruitment Express (PI Express) held at the campuses of 10 universities and tertiary institutes between September 17 and October 14 attracted over 400 final year students.

Recruitment Division (RECDIV) launched "PI Express" at four universities in 2008, namely University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Polytechnic University. In view of a favourable response, this recruitment programme was extended to another six tertiary institutes in 2009: City University, Baptist University, Lingnan University, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Open University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Institute of Education.

During the 10-day recruitment programme, RECDIV organised career talks, conducted initial screening such as height and weight measurement and eyesight test, and arranged qualified applicants to attend a written examination.

The recruitment programme owed its success to the extensive and effective multi-media publicity and career talks hosted by RECDIV Woman Senior Inspector Veronica Lee on the professionalism and diversity of police career. The 10 tertiary institutes also gave the programme a big support, while their Students Advisory Offices provided venues and facilities, and publicised the programme via their campus electronic media and websites.

Both RECDIV and the participating institutes were greatly encouraged by students' response, and the Student Advisory Officers hope that similar recruitment programme would be organised for students interested in joining the Force after their graduation.
