Assistant Commissioner Brett Pointing who is responsible for training in Queensland Police Service (QPS), together with Superintendent Mark Plath and Inspector Daniel Bragg, visited Police College on October 19 and met College Director Kevin Woods and his team to share best training practices and to enhance mutual understanding.

The Queensland Police Academy is one of the Police College's important strategic training partners for management training. Every year, five Sergeants from the Force are sent to the academy to attend a three-week Management Development Programme (MDP) to develop knowledge and skills of various topics, including Strategic Leadership and Management, Tactical Communication and Human Resources Management. QPS also hosts a Post Course Attachment for officers attending various kinds of training in Australia to increase their exposure.

During the visit, Mr Pointing met the officers who recently attended the MDP to discuss the benefits of the programme to their professional developments and work. The delegation also visited the Tactical Training Complex on the Aberdeen Campus and was impressed by the facilities there and a demonstration on weapon training.
