To support the Force Strategic Direction 2010-2012 of "Supporting Frontline Units" and to enhance frontline officers' knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML), Crime Headquarters New Territories North (CRM HQ NTN), in conjunction with Narcotics Bureau's (NB) Financial Investigation Division (FID), held an AML seminar for NTN crime officers at NTN Regional Headquarters on November 11. As initial assessment is an important first step to combat money laundering, CRM HQ NTN and Financial Investigation NB provided an overview of the latest AML developments, as well as policing policies, covering AML regulations, enforcement procedures, legal proceedings and case-sharing. FID Chief Inspector Paul Chung told the audience: "The seminar is a platform to enhance officers' understanding of AML and to clarify some of the ambiguous ideas. The message we want to get across to frontline officers is FID is always prepared to help with AML." More than 50 crime officers from CRM HQ NTN and districts appreciated a great deal the AML cases cited by FID Senior Inspector Raymond Lam and the question-and-answer session. NTN
