FEG Officer visits 'All the President's Men' |

The Force Escort Group (FEG) recently sent one of their Team Leaders to visit the United States Secret Service's (USSS) Motorcade Support Unit (MSU) with a view to continuing their benchmarking against other world leading groups in the same field. The USSS MSU is responsible for all Presidential and Vice-Presidential Motorcade movements in Washington D.C. In addition to benchmarking, another purpose of the visit was to strengthen the liaison between the two organisations. The MSU was formed, under the Uniformed Division of the USSS, for President George Bush in July 2009, and its first assignment was the motorcade escort for him on September 11, 2009, although the USSS has been responsible for Presidential security since 1901. Senior Inspector (SIP) Damien Chan, who is the Kowloon West FEG Team Leader, visited the US Capital between October 24 and 29 to observe the motorcade movements of the President and the Vice President, and had discussions with MSU members on strategies, tactics, logistical support, officer safety and training. He also met the second in command of the Uniform Branch, Mr John Quesinverry, and presented him a souvenir from the FEG. The annual MSU training course for recruits was also held during SIP Chan's visit and he was invited to participate in the graduation ceremony, at which he gave a speech and met the Deputy Director Keith Prewitt commanding the Uniform Division. As a core function of both the FEG and the MSU, providing secured escort service for motorcades of VIPs will continue to develop in the future, and the two organisations will continue to maintain a close working relationship in the years to come.
