EDIST, District Council host Road Safety Carnival
Eastern District (EDIST) and the Traffic and Transport Committee of the Eastern District Council jointly held the "Eastern District Road Safety Carnival 2010" in Victoria Park, Causeway Bay, on October 30.
Officiating at the opening ceremony of the carnival were Dr Lam Chi-kit, Commissioner of Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol; Dr Liu Kai-ming, Deputy Commissioner of Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol; Mr Hui Ying-yeung, District Officer of Eastern District Office; EDIST Commander Andrew Lovatt and Senior Superintendent Traffic Hong Kong Island Chau Ping-sun.
Mr Lovatt also appointed movie and TV star Tse Suet-sum and over 10 local residents as Eastern District Road Safety Ambassador and members of Eastern District Road Safety Campaign Preparatory Committee respectively for promoting road safety.
Through games booths, a variety show, distribution of promotional leaflets and setting up of a Road Safety Town by Road Safety Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island on the spot, the carnival succeeded in driving home the road safety messages to road users and pedestrians in support of the vision of "Zero Accidents on the Road – Hong Kong's Goal".
