New Territories South (NTS) Region held a Sports Day in the Police Sports and Recreation Club on November 4, successfully promoting Physical Fitness and Health Management among the participants.

Under glorious autumn weather, the participants enjoyed a wide range of sporting events, including football, basketball, tug-of-war, long distance runs, table tennis, volleyball and swimming, in addition to a series of fun games. An atmosphere of camaraderie prevailed as officers at every rank did their best to win.

The day offered many highlights, one of them being the hotly contested football match between the staff of Regional Headquarters and Districts. Following a tense and hard fought game, the two teams came to a draw.

The fun games, such as "Holding Ball with Backs" and "Four-Person-Five-Legged Run", which demanded good teamwork, were equally popular with the participants, drawing the participation of ten teams and offering a grand spectacle.

At the end of the day, Sha Tin District and Police Tactical Unit NTS captured the Major Formation Championship and the Minor Formation Championship respectively. The event concluded with NTS Regional Commander Tse Shu-chun presenting trophies to the winners, and telling officers not to be complacent with their victories or lose heart because of failure, and return to make a bigger effort on the next Sports Day. Finally he encouraged them to pursue a healthy lifestyle and take up a sport in their spare time.
