Appreciation Corner

I reported a case of suspected taxi scam to the police officers stationing at the Shatin Report Room at 8 pm on December 24. All of them provided immediate and professional help to me and my family.

I knew the chance for me to get back the $400 suspected to have been cheated was small. Yet, to my surprise and delight, in less than an hour-and-a-half, I received a phone call from them, saying that they have located the taxi driver. The taxi driver agreed that he had got $400 extra and was willing to return the money.

$400 is a petty sum, yet it has given an ordinary civilian a great sense of security that his property is really under the protection of our police force. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the police officers who were at the Shatin Report Room on the night of December 24. I am sorry to have troubled them on Silent Night.  Their effectiveness and efficiency are definitely exemplary for others to model upon.

(Editor's note: The officers supervising handling of this case are Duty Officer Team 4 Station Sergeant Wong Chun-wah and Assistant Duty Officer Sergeant Wong Kin-fai.)
