Beating drug abuse absolutely relied on the support by all sectors and coordination among different parties, especially frontline officers, school principals, teachers and parents, said Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) Commander, Chief Superintendent (CSP) Chiu Kai-ting, on January 29. Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony of an anti-drug talent quest, CSP Chiu added: "Nowadays, society is full of material temptations. To resist the temptations, we must have better co-operation and communication so that a drug-free community and harmonious school campuses would be developed". In support of the Government's anti-drug targets, KTDIST, in conjunction with Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee and the Evergreen Lutheran Centre of Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, organised the talent quest in the hope students would realise the harm of dangerous drugs whilst showing their creativity in the talent quest. The organisers also encouraged schools, parents and students in Kwun Tong to take part in the contest so that they would enrich their knowledge of drug abuse. Six secondary schools and six primary schools in Kwun Tong participated in the contest with various performances, including dramas, recitation of verses, rope skipping and lion dances. Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee Chairman, Mr Lai Shu-ho; Kwun Tong District Councillor, Ms Leung Fu-wing; CSP Chiu and the Evergreen Lutheran Centre Officer, Mr Lam Hon-ming, sat on a panel and selected the winners, runners-up, and the Most Creative and Merit entries from the secondary and primary school categories. In the secondary school category, the winner was Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School. S.K.H. Kei Hin Primary School clinched the title of the primary school category.
