In a bid to enhance communication and understanding with the Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC), Western District (WDIST) Police Community Relations Office, Western JPC Honorary Presidents Council, Caritas Mok Cheung Shui Kan Centre and Caritas Aberdeen Community Centre jointly organised a New Year Fight Crime Carnival under the "Join Hands to Fight Crime" programme for the third year.

Officiating at the event were Honorary Presidents Council Chairman, Mr Ng Siu-keung; Chief Imam of Kowloon Mosque, Mr Muhammad Arshad; Committee Member of Caritas Social Work Committee, Mr Cheng Sing-fung; Supervising Officer of Caritas Mok Cheung Shui Kan Centre, Mr Ng Man-sui; Supervising Officer of Caritas Aberdeen Community Centre, Mr Joe Kwan; and WDIST Deputy Commander, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Wise Choy.

Speaking at the carnival, SSP Choy observed that the NEC communities have different life styles, creeds and cultural background. He therefore encouraged them to actively take part in community activities. This message was successful brought home as over 100 NEC youths and their parents, police volunteers and JPC members interacted and came to know each other better at the carnival.
