The Force's booth at the Education and Careers Expo 2011 held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 17 to 20 was a hit with thousands of young men and women, who were eager to know more about the different facets of police work and aspired to joining the Force.

Building on the success of the Force booth in the previous Expos, Police Public Relations Branch and Recruitment Division (RECDIV) put in a great deal of effort and creativity in designing the booth and in publicising the themes of the exhibition: "Recruiting Talents, Training for Professionalism and Promoting a Caring Culture". The booth had a modern look and incorporated a "green" concept in design with the reception counter decorated with plants and a "blue sky" at the ceiling. High-tech equipment (big LCD TVs and electronic display panels) was used to showcase the modern and professional image of the Force which is dedicated to serving the community with pride and care.

Four huge electronic display panels introduced the Vision and Values of the Force, entry requirements, fringe benefits and welfare, different police formations and the Auxiliary Police. Three sets of LCD TVs also broadcast police recruitment and Police Magazine footages.

Another key attraction was a simulated firing mini-range set up at the police booth, which was computer-operated with a laser sensory system. At the mini-range, officers from Weapon Training Division demonstrated the safe use of police weapons throughout the four-day exhibition.

Furthermore, different units of the Force, including Police Dog Unit, Airport Security Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Narcotics Bureau, Emergency Unit, Identification Bureau, Small Boat Division and Traffic introduced their work and equipment at different sessions of the Expo.

RECDIV officers conducted a career talk on entry requirements, selection process, prerequisite attributes required of recruits, salary and benefits as well as the career paths and promotion prospects of Police Inspector and Police Constable, attracting more than 200 visitors.

As part of the "Recruitment Express", RECDIV officers manned the booth to answer queries, handle applications, and conduct initial screening (IS) or scheduling written examination. At the same time, the Recruitment Centre in Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, also received applications from February 14 to 25.

As part of their development programme, Mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme 2010-11 worked at the police booth as volunteers, handing out souvenirs and application forms and helping visitors search for information from the Police Public Page.
