ISW presented with ISO certificate
for providing information
security
Information Security is becoming increasingly important in any organisation and this is also true with the Force.
Committed to continually maintaining information confidentiality, integrity and availability of all Force information systems and information processed by the Force, Information Systems Wing (ISW) has recently been accredited with the ISO 27001 certification on ISW's provision of information security framework to the Force, including establishment and implementation of security policy and governance services.
On March 18, representatives from the British Standards Institution presented the certificate to Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Peter Else.
ISO 27001:2005 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving a documented Information Security Management System (ISMS) within an organisation.
Certifying the ISMS against ISO 27001 can bring the following benefits:
* Demonstrates the independent assurance of internal controls and meets corporate governance and continuity requirements;
* Independently demonstrates that applicable laws and regulations are observed;
