Kowloon East (KE) Region organised an experience sharing session on attending promotion board interviews by Junior Police Officers (JPO). Speaking at the opening of the session, KE Regional Commander Suen Kwai-leung thanked officers for attending the session and encouraged them to continue seeking self-enhancement.

Giving talks at the sharing session were Superintendent (SP) Lai Chi-man and Woman Chief Inspector (WCIP) Ng Kit-yung, both from Kwun Tong District, who were respectively chairperson and member of a Sergeant Promotion Board in 2010, as well as Chief Inspector Wong Wai-shun, an experienced officer in handling public order events.

SP Lai and WCIP Ng clarified the attendants' misunderstandings and offered their views on preparing for promotion board interviews.

At a discussion session, CIP Wong Wai-shun, former Police Tactical Unit staff member and currently Police Community Relations Officer of Yuen Long District and Officer Commanding for the Abseiling Cadre, spoke of how to manage public order events and ensure public order and safety from different perspectives.

Following the success of a similar event held last year, KE Region was organising the sharing session for the second year, attracting about 70 officers. KE will organise six sharing sessions from April to September this year. Apart from promotion board chairperson and members, officers possessing expertise of, or experience in, certain subjects will attend as speakers. Newly promoted Station Sergeants and Sergeants will also be invited to share their experiences of preparing for interviews. In addition, mock interviews will be arranged.
