A close partnership has existed for many years among Kwun Tong District (KTDIST), Kwun Tong District Council and the District Fight Crime Committee, pulling off achievements in many aspects, for example, combatting crimes and disseminating anti-crime messages. In a bid to forge closer ties with the local community, KTDIST Commander Chau Cho-kei hosted a luncheon for Kwun Tong Councillors and Fight Crime Committee members on May 23.

At the luncheon, Mr Chau told his guests: "As Police work is closely related to the life of citizens, a good police-public relationship is most essential for us to handle a heavy workload effectively. In fact, police-public relationship has changed in the wake of changes to the Force's policing concepts as well as changes in society. Now we're committed to providing people-oriented services and striving for continuous improvements.

"'Engaging the Community' is one of the strategic directions of our Commissioner. Engaging the community must be built into the daily work of all our officers by ensuring that their duties are prioritised and fulfilled efficiently, so as to successfully implement community policing in Kwun Tong and to keep the crime rate as low as possible. Your advice and support will help us understand better the aspirations of the local community, and build a harmonious community."
