The road to successful implementation of the Force's Integrated Integrity Management Framework requires the collaborative effort by all Force members, Director of Management Services (DMS) Tang How-kong recently told 80 newly promoted Sergeants and Station Sergeants and 180 trainees of the Standard Criminal Investigation Course (SCIC) at Police College.

Speaking at the opening and a closing of seminars on Integrity Management in May and June this year for Sergeants and Station Sergeants attending Promotion Courses and SCIC respectively, Mr Tang noted the Force's long-term commitment to Integrity Management, particularly combatting corruption and misconduct in all forms. He pointed out that the Force had earned extremely high approval ratings in public surveys, both internationally and locally. At the end, he called for attention to the importance for supervisors to lead and act as role models for their peers and subordinates.

At the seminars, representatives from Internal Investigations Office also briefed the audience on the various lessons learned from the Complaint and Misconduct Prevention Bulletins (CMPB) and reminded them of the parameters of the Force's Behavioural Guidelines.

Officers' comments

After the seminar, Station Sergeant Chan Tsz-hin from Wan Chai Division commented: "I believe it is important for non-commissioned officers (NCO) to lead with example and set fine standards for subordinates at all times. As NCOs, we also have the supervisory responsibility to early identify and provide guidance to those in need of support."

Said Woman Inspector Noel Tai from Western District of the seminar: "The seminar helped us appreciate that given the increased expectations of our society, it is pivotal for all Force members to adhere to the Behavioural Guidelines at all times. Failing to do so might lead to dire consequences. I think the CMPB case studies provide clear messages and help us identify potential risks. I will encourage my colleagues to read the CMPB case studies regularly."

CMPB is available on the Ethics Corner via POINT.
