Submissions to 2nd FRAS being reviewed
The 2nd Force Research Award Scheme (FRAS) has reached the paper reviewing stage. As it was the case with the 1st FRAS, the FRAS Working Group has invited College Honorary Advisors and Associates to serve as paper adjudicators and judges for the Best Presentation Award Final.
The adjudicators for paper reviewing are Dr Chan Tak-shing, Mr Kung Pak-sing, Dr Chow Yuk-yin, Mr Li Kam-wah, Mr Chung Koon-ying, Mr Suen Kwai-leung, Dr Daniel Churchill, Mr Tang Wing-hung, Dr Robert Cocks, Dr Wan Chun-cheong, Mr Fung Siu-yuen and Dr Daniel In Jea Wong.
The Judges for the Best Presentation Award Final are Mr Lee Ming-kwai, Dr Au Wing-tung and Prof Lui Tai-lok.
Police College Deputy Director Gavin Brown, who is Chairperson of the FRAS Working Group, commented: "With the help of the adjudicators, judges and meticulous procedures, I'm confident we will have a just, fair and open competition."
Review of papers, which will be completed by the end of this month, makes use of a proprietary software programme to vet all submitted papers for plagiarism. Of this, Mr Brown noted: "This is an important initiative to safeguard the reputations of both the competitors and the Force, and to ensure FRAS is fully compliant with Force Values." He added that all papers successfully passed this important compliance check.
The winners will be announced at the FRAS Presentation Ceremony to be held on September 14.

Presentation Pre-selection
For the three places at the Best Presentation Award Final, a pre-selection competition was held on May 12. A judging panel, headed by Dr Cheuk Chun-yin, Regional Commander Hong Kong Island, who was assisted by two experienced Force Training Officers, Kwok Chi-mei and Law Chun-hung, found it hard to select three for the final because all the entries have a very high standard. Nevertheless, three were chosen and they will compete in the Best Presentation Award Final to be held at the FRAS Presentation Ceremony for Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. The three successful entries will be announced in July through PEN so that their authors will have sufficient time to prepare.
