During his visit to Hubei Province with a Force delegation from May 22 to 28, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Lee Ka-chiu officiated at the graduation ceremony for 80 Hubei officers who had completed a five-day tactics training conducted by the Police College's Mobile Training Team at the Wuhan People's Police Training Base.

The training, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Public Security and the Force, was conducted by the eight-member Mobile Training Team headed by Superintendent (Weapons Training) Chan Wing-leung. Other members of the team included Chief Inspector Ng Kai-kwong, Senior Inspector Chan Wai-hung and Sergeants Lee Siu-wah, Tse Ka-lung, Mo Chin-chee, Chan Wai-ming and Leung Wing-on. Assisted by eight Hubei weapon training instructors, the tactics training was offered to local trainee instructors from various Public Security Bureaux in Hubei.

The five-day training programme consisted of lectures, demonstrations and simulated exercises, covering a wide range of firearms tactics, such as the techniques commonly employed by the Force of interrogating, arresting and overpowering suspects, search of vehicles and hostage situations. The Mobile Training Team also took the opportunity to exchange with their Hubei counterparts views and ideas on the concept and experience of tactics training. This compact programme, which stretched from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, underlined the hard work and accomplishments of the trainers of both Forces.

Addressing the graduates at the graduation ceremony on May 27, Mr Lee thanked the Hubei Public Security Department for entrusting the Force with providing tactics training to their officers, giving recognition of the Force's training standard.

Giving a note of thanks to Mr Lee, a trainee representative put the Force's tactics training amongst the best on the Mainland, adding that the graduation ceremony marked yet another milestone in the Force's provision of tactics training to Mainland officers.

Mr Lee is the highest-ranking member of the Force to have visited Hubei Province. The Force delegation was received by Deputy Directors Zhou Houzhen and Shang Wu of the Hubei Public Security Department.

The delegation's visit also covered various public security bureaux and police stations in Yichang, Shennongjia, Shiyan, Suizhou and Wuhan, during which the delegation discussed and exchanged views with Hubei officers on policing problems, human resources and change management.

Hubei has highly praised the Force for its quality and professionalism, and attached importance to the visit by the delegation, which has enhanced mutual understanding and paved the way for further co-operation in future.
