SCDS members visit Traffic Kowloon West

Members of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service (SCDS) visited Traffic Kowloon West on June 21. The visitors comprising SCDS Chairman, Mr Barry Cheung, Chairman of the Police Sub-Committee, Mrs Margaret Leung, and SCDS member, Miss Melissa Wu, were accompanied on the visit by the Secretary General of the Joint Secretariat for the Advisory Bodies on Civil Service and Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service, Mr Patrick Li.

Acting Senior Superintendent Traffic Kowloon West Yip Kwok-kuen greeted the guests at Traffic Kowloon West Operational Base and conducted a presentation on traffic policing, with emphasis on the danger, hardship and challenges faced by traffic officers and Regional Traffic Formations. Following the presentation, the visitors viewed a variety of traffic equipment and met 13 officers from Kowloon West and other Traffic Formations at an experience-sharing session where the SCDS members were given first-hand accounts of the challenges and danger faced by frontline traffic officers.

During the visit, the members also exchanged views with the Traffic Kowloon West Management and frontline officers and gained an insight into traffic policing in Hong Kong and the associated difficulties and challenges. At the conclusion of the visit they expressed appreciation for the effort and contribution of traffic officers and the Force in maintaining Hong Kong a safe city.
